Packing together as a 3D travel object in the Packliste style

Packing together starts before the first check mark. Decide which items everyone needs and which the group needs only once. A shared document does not make that decision for you. A clear plan makes shared progress more useful afterwards.

Three areas to agree on

Area Examples Your decision
Personal Clothing, toothbrush, ID, sleeping bag Each person checks their own needs
Shared Stove, cooler, table, tools Plan once and agree who brings it
Accommodation Bedding, towels, dishes Check what is supplied, then plan the gaps

Start with the appropriate trip list. For tents, the group camping check estimates shared needs from people, tent capacity and supplied equipment. It uses the capacities you enter; your actual equipment may have different limits. For a house, the vacation rental check helps compare your needs with the promised facilities.

A week before: record who brings what

Agree on sleeping arrangements, cooking and transport first. One person brings the stove, another the cooler. Record the agreement somewhere everyone can see, for example a custom item named “Stove – Alex”. That is a label you maintain; Packliste does not assign equipment to people automatically.

For children, an adult checks personal items. Review favourite belongings and individual equipment as well as quantities. If you will wash clothes together, use the laundry packing guide.

The night before: checked means packed

An item that has been bought, laid out or promised is not yet in the luggage. Agree to check it off only once it has been packed. That gives “done” the same meaning for everyone. Check shared equipment by sight before marking it complete.

Share a Packliste list

Create and adjust the list first. The person with Premium shares it through iCloud; invited guests can pack along free. Everyone needs the app and iCloud. Shared check marks help you see progress. Invitations and synchronisation depend on your iCloud connection, so verify access before departure day.

The website calculators produce a copyable result. They do not create a shared session or transfer results into the app automatically. Add the custom items and quantities you need to your saved list.

Before leaving: one final pass

Check documents, charging cables, bathroom, fridge and accommodation keys. The packing check supplies questions based on trip type and situations. Then review open entries in the shared list. Reset the packing progress for the return trip and check the same belongings again. Any extra requirements remain your decision.

Tips

  • Agree on personal belongings and shared gear separately.
  • Check items off only once they are packed.
  • Verify invitations and iCloud access before departure day.

Frequently asked questions

How do we avoid duplicate camping gear?
Separate personal belongings from shared equipment. Agree who brings each stove, cooler or tool kit, and record that agreement in the list.
Can Packliste automatically assign items to people?
No. You can include an agreed responsibility in the name of a custom item. The app does not automatically assign equipment.
What does shared packing cost?
The person inviting others needs Premium as a one-time purchase. Invited guests can pack along free. Everyone needs the app and iCloud.
