The kind of beach and the way there change the list
A serviced beach with loungers, showers and a kiosk asks for less luggage than a remote bay. Check shade, food, toilets and the walk from the parking lot beforehand. Anyone who has to carry everything a long way benefits from a smaller bag or a cart. Anyone parking right by the water can leave spare clothes and the bigger cooler in the car.
For families, beach toys, swimming aids and extra changes of clothes come on top. Choose swimming aids to suit the person and follow the manufacturer’s notes. A packing list is no substitute for supervision at the water, but it does make sure that the agreed things actually come along.
Treat sun protection as several entries
Sun protection is not only cream. Shade, clothing, a hat, sunglasses and planned breaks are part of it too. Match your choices and how you apply them to the time outdoors, the UV situation, your skin type and the product notes. That way a single check mark does not stand in for everything.

Tips
- Put sunscreen on before you head down to the beach. That way sun protection does not start only once you have been outside for a while.
- With a beach umbrella, watch how firmly it stands and follow the manufacturer's notes. In strong wind a folded umbrella is the safer option.
- A closed phone case protects not only while swimming but also against sand and splashing water.
- Put a snack in the cooler next to the drinks. Then it stays cool and within reach.
- Put a light change of clothes on top of the bag. Wet swimwear in the car or on the way home is less pleasant than it looks while packing.
