Motorhome as a 3D travel object in the Packliste style

With a motorhome the vacation begins in your own driveway, long before the first pitch is in sight. A vehicle with its own water supply and its own kitchen takes a lot off your hands, but it does ask that fresh water and the gas bottle are checked before you leave. Otherwise you stand there on the first evening with an empty tank, and the next water connection is usually further away than the map suggests.

The vehicle check, water and waste, camping gear, kitchen and safety form the base. In the app the crew, the duration, the destination and the activities come on top.

The list below helps you check. In the app you match it to crew, route and vehicle. The first list is free and needs no Packliste account.

The vehicle and the luggage are two different checks

A motorhome packing list should separate a road-ready vehicle from travel luggage. Papers, required safety equipment, tires, lights and vehicle-specific maintenance belong in the vehicle check. Clothing, kitchen and leisure make up the luggage. For technical checks, go by the vehicle handbook, a specialist workshop and the current rules of the countries you travel through.

Before every leg, loose objects have to be secured. Heavy things belong in suitable, low places; doors, windows and external connections get closed. Payload and axle loads depend on the specific vehicle and should not be derived from a general list on the internet.

Match the supply to the route and the pitches

Fresh water, gas, power and waste disposal depend on how self-sufficient you are on the road. Plan according to the confirmed options along the route instead of automatically filling tanks and stores to the maximum. Water costs weight, and not every pitch offers the same connection. Adapter, hose and cable have to suit the vehicle and the destination.

For the kitchen, a small meal plan pays off. It shows which pots, supplies and cooling you actually need. Towels and clothing follow the duration and the places to wash. If you change locations often, a compact, fixed order stays more practical than many loose spare items.

Check departure and arrival separately

Some points are packed at home, others checked before every onward leg. So alongside the luggage list, set up a short routine for the awning, leveling blocks, power, water, cupboards and the cab. A category saved permanently in Packliste can hold these vehicle-specific points.

The motorhome template gives you the start for vehicle, supply, camping, kitchen and safety. After that you add your model, the pitches you have planned and personal equipment. With Premium you can duplicate a list that has proven itself and adapt it for the next route.

Tips

  • Check fresh water and gas before you set off. How much water you take depends on the route, the payload and the places to refill along the way.
  • Stow the warning triangle and the high-visibility vests so that you can reach them in a breakdown without emptying the rearmost locker first.
  • Take leveling blocks along if you stay on changing pitches. They help you set the motorhome up steadily even on uneven ground.
  • Pack the onboard tools that suit your vehicle and your own skills. For repairs to gas, the electrical system or safety-relevant parts, a specialist workshop is responsible.
  • Match towels and bedding to your storage space and to the places to wash along the route.

Frequently asked questions

What belongs on every motorhome packing list?
Vehicle documents, the water and gas supply and the equipment for standing safely are part of the base. The rest depends on the vehicle, the pitch and the route.
What is different from a camping packing list?
With a motorhome, the vehicle check, water, gas and waste disposal come on top. Many things that are packed separately for a tent are already built in.
Can I adapt the list to my own vehicle?
Yes. In the app you can change entries and quantities, hide categories and add whatever is particular to your vehicle.
